Fernando Cabo is a shiatsu and sotai practitioner since 2001 and is the founding director and principal teacher at the Professional Shiatsu School, which he founded in 2012. He has been training professionals since 2004. Fernando also studied Namikoshi shiatsu and was examined by Matsuko Namikoshi, former director of the Japan Shiatsu College (Tokyo).
He moved to London in 2010 to open his own practice, and in 2012, he opened the Professional Shiatsu School. From his experiences working with seated shiatsu at offices and events, seeing people with many different types of health problems, and working on a table in gyms and hospitals, he has developed his own shiatsu style which he calls
puro or professional shiatsu.
He has taught shiatsu workshops on how to treat back pain, constipation and on Chinese dietitics (in the UK, the Netherlands and Spain). His development of abdominal shiatsu was much admired when he presented it in the Netherlands.
He helped organise two shiatsu congresses and he is now organising the International Shiatsu Congress 2016 in London.

Fernando's voluntary work is very important to him and he encourages his students to do the same. Currently, he is a volunteer at Whipps Cross Hospital where he is carrying out research into the effects of shiatsu on complaints presented by cancer patients (anxiety, neuropathy, fatigue, oedema, etc.).
His experiences as a volunteer and researcher have led him to get together with like-minded colleagues to set up two charities, Shiatsu Volunteers and the Shiatsu Research Foundation.

Hailing from Toronto, Ruth was trained in Massage Therapy in Canada, where it is a regulated Healthcare Profession in the way Physiotherapy is in the UK. Graduating in 2011, Ruth’s practice is focused on the mind-body connection and treating the body as a whole. Her treatments can best be described as combining the knowledge of a physiotherapist with a massage-based approach, resulting in an effective yet soothing experience.
Based on her formal Swedish training, Ruth's treatment style also borrows from fascial stretch and diaphragmatic breathing techniques to release locked tissues and de-stress the mind allowing the body to move more freely. She prides herself on listening to each client’s body and using its feedback to give the right amount of pressure, whether deep to get through the layers of tissue or lighter for those more tender areas. Staying away from the notion of no pain-no gain, she works with her client’s mind, body and breath to break the pain cycle and restore movement to get them back to the life they want to have. Every treatment starts with an intake to help focus the treatment and ends with home-care exercises, stretches, or activities that will help each client feel better for longer.
Ruth has worked with a range of clients, from the average desk-bound office workers to women in all stages of pregnancy, not forgetting many amateur and professional athletes who use regular massage therapy for injury prevention and recovery. Her passion lies with empowering the person to become aware of where they are in space and understand that how they move their body can contribute to their pain or it can help them heal. She promotes Massage as a preventative health care modality, and she is a staunch supporter of the benefits of touch therapy in terms of mental health. Just as the mind listens to the pain in the body, the body can and does listen to the pain in the mind.

Caroline has been practising massage and aromatherapy since 2000, gaining lots of experience working in various clinics around London before joining the team at Dulwich Therapy Rooms in 2005.
Caroline is specially trained in pregnancy massage, and particularly enjoys the extensive work she does with pregnant women, optimising their comfort and wellbeing during the months leading up to the birth. She is also enthusiastic about movement-orientated massage and bodywork, stemming from her own love of dance and Qi Gong. This has led her to train in Pulsing (rhythmical movement massage) and Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian massage), both of which have a strong emphasis on movement of the body.

In addition to her extensive experience in massage, Caroline is a qualified homeopath and has also attained a first class honours degree in physiotherapy, and currently works part-time as a physiotherapist within a school for blind and partially sighted children with neurological disability.

Caroline regularly attends lectures, seminars and workshops to learn new skills and to keep up to date with developments in the field of healthcare.

Simone qualified in massage in 1995 (ITEC) and took her Aromatherapy exams in 2000 (ITEC). Since then she has built up a strong loyal client base. Simone is also trained as a “massage in schools” instructor, which has enabled her to assist groups of both young and old to give talks and demonstrations on promoting positive touch, massage and Aromatherapy.

In February 2009 Simone began the first of three seasons work with Erin O’ Conner on an exciting and worthwhile project with London Fashion Week. The project was set up to support and educate young people on the benefits of natural therapies. Simone worked alongside other professionals, giving advice and treatments to those who perhaps had little knowledge of such therapies. She particularly encouraged the awareness of good nutrition and the importance of seeking sensitive and supportive treatments where necessary.

Simone loves her job and gains much satisfaction from delivering a tailored treatment to every client. With supportive massage Simone believes it is possible to tap into the happy hormone oxcytocine, encouraging the body’s own ability to repair and heal itself as well as prompt feelings of wellbeing. Simone feels that most people would benefit enormously from this marvellous ancient instinctive practice.
